When Should I Book My Maternity Photos?

The best time for maternity photos is between 28 and 34 weeks of pregnancy.

During this stage, your baby bump is beautifully visible while you are still generally comfortable enough to move around and enjoy your session. Every pregnancy is different, so if you are carrying multiples or have a high-risk pregnancy, we may recommend scheduling a little earlier.

Capture this season of life

Pregnancy is one of the most beautiful and life-changing seasons of life. Whether this is your first baby or your fourth, maternity photos are a wonderful way to celebrate the journey and document the anticipation of meeting your little one.

As a maternity photographer serving Leduc, Edmonton, Beaumont, Devon, and surrounding areas, I want your session to feel relaxed, comfortable, and stress-free. Here is everything you need to know before your maternity photo session.

What Should I Wear?

The most important thing is choosing something that makes you feel beautiful and confident.

For my photography style, I recommend soft, neutral tones and maternity dresses with a boho-inspired feel. These photograph beautifully and create the timeless, creamy look you see throughout my portfolio.

Some favorite options include:

Boho-style maternity dresses

Fitted dresses that beautifully showcase your bump

Flowy skirts and textured fabrics

Neutral colors such as cream, beige, white, soft pink, sage green, and warm earth tones

Simple jewelry and accessories

At Stained With Joy Portraits, clients have access to a growing maternity client closet featuring carefully selected dresses that complement my warm, natural style.

Professional Hair and Makeup

The most important thing is feeling like yourself. Choose a look that reflects your personality and makes you feel comfortable.

How Should I Prepare Before My Session?

A few simple tips:

Stay hydrated throughout the day.

Eat a light meal beforehand.

Get plenty of rest the night before.

Arrive with your clothing steamed and ready.

Bring any sentimental items you would like included.

Many families choose to bring ultrasound photos, baby shoes, special blankets, or meaningful keepsakes.

What Happens After the Session?

After your session, your images will be carefully selected and professionally edited. You'll receive a gallery where you can choose your favorite photographs.

My goal is to create timeless images that celebrate this incredible season of motherhood and become treasured memories for years to come.

A Note From Me

As both a mother and photographer, I understand how quickly pregnancy passes. The days may feel long, but this season is so brief.

It is truly an honor to document this chapter for families and create images that tell the story of the love that already exists before your baby arrives.

If you're looking for a maternity photographer in Leduc, Edmonton, Beaumont, Devon, or the surrounding area, I would love to help you celebrate your growing family.
